Sonoma State Home Show

This year Sonoma State is hosting our second annual IHSA home show! It will be a single day western show on October 15th.

We're in need of help from the community. In order to make our show run smoothly, we rely on a lot of different people. Currently, we're in need of a host site, judge, horses, warm-up riders, and horse handlers. We would also love help from anyone willing to assist us the day of the show.

Please see below for details.

Facility
We're currently looking for a facility with a covered arena.

Judge
The judge should be familiar with how to judge western horsemanship and reining with an emphasis on proper equitation. AQHA card is preferred, but not a requirement.

Horses
We need horses! IHSA is based on catch riding, so quality horses are the heart of a good show. We're currently looking for horses from the Walk/Jog level all the way up to Open Horsemanship and Reining. We work closely with owners to make sure their horses are properly cared for and placed in appropriate levels.

Warm-up Riders
If you can safely and properly warm up western horses at the walk, jog, and lope, we would love your help. Riders who can properly warm up reiners are also needed.

Horse Handlers
Every horse needs its own horse handler. This person is responsible for holding the horse between classes, helping the rider mount, explaining the horse to the riders, and overall care of the horse. Extensive knowledge about western riding is helpful, but not necessary.

Show Helpers
Of course we need people to help the show run smoothly. If you can help us for the day, we'll feed you lunch and thank you again and again! We have many odd jobs to be done and would love any help you can give us.

Contact us at SSUEquestrian@gmail.com if you might be able to help in any of these areas.
