Eventing

During the 2011-2012 school year, the SSU Equestrian Team will be adding eventing to its list of disciplines. We will be showing through the WCCEL, or the West Coast Collegiate Eventing League. This is a great opportunity for eventers actively showing, but looking to get involved at SSU at the same time.

Event riders take lessons out of Petaluma Hill Stables and attend all meetings, gym days, and activities as IHSA members do, creating a unified team atmosphere. However, eventers show in recognized shows throughout the west coast and compete both for themselves and for Sonoma State. Shows include Ram Tap, Twin Rivers, and other California venues.

Requirements:

Event riders must have their own horses and tack, and it is preferred that they have previous show experience. Individuals are responsible for their own board, etc. but the team helps discount lessons and travel.
